Droughtmaster stud breeder Tim Lloyd says it is no surprise that Droughtmaster beef derived from the genetics of his cattle is impressing the customers of a well-known butcher shop on NSW’s mid-north coast.
When local producers Daniel and Alison Carey were looking to build their Droughtmaster herd, they turned to Tim’s Heitiki stud near Inverell, laying the foundations for a growing boutique beef business marketed through Snow & Sons, The Master Butchers at Wingham.
“That’s what we breed for – early maturing, low bos Indicus content animals that are perfectly suited for southern Australian producers who are looking to crossbreed with their British or European herds,” Tim says.
“As is obvious from the response from customers of Snow and Sons, Droughtmaster genetics of this type are bringing resilience and survivability to herds as seasons get tougher, without compromising tenderness and flavour once they’re on the hook.
“In fact, if anything, they appear to be enhancing it.”
